Budapest - How to plan an amazing weekend in this ancient city

24 hours in Budapest

I fell in love with this ancient city. It had a beautiful old world charm about it that transports the visitor back in time

Transport:

From Liszt  Ferenc airport purchase a 24hour or 48hour travel pass.

The pass entitles you to use the transport options available for 24hrs etc ( the time is calculated from the time you Purchased the ticket! So if you are having coffee or going to the Spar supermarket or toilets etc at the airport, purchase the pass LAST)

The 200 E airport bus (runs every few minutes) will take you from the airport into town (Kobanya-kispest M) it is approx a 25min journey

Thereafter at Kobanya-kispest M take a metro, bus or tram to your hotel.

I love to join walking tours when travelling as the best way to learn about a new place is from a local
GΓ bor from @freetourcom Didnt dissapoint.
Sign up online and join the free walking tour if you are ever visiting Budapest.
I would recomend doing it on the first day as you get awesome tips and to get your bearings of a new city.

Info on most important landmarks, local legends and tips and tricks to maximise your short stay.
Need to know Where to eat like a local? Where to  Visit? How to get around reasonably? Then join a free tour.

Nb Guides depend on tips

Hotel:
Hilton budapest old town
Situated behind the fishermans bastion this elegant hotel is located in an area filled with old world charm.

If you need to be close to the nightlife of Budapest and the pest area it can be easily reached by bus 16 which stops directly outside the hotel.

There is even a starbucks at the back of the hotel.

This is my number one choice hotel for Budapest.

The restaurant, some rooms and the lounge have amazing views over the Danube and parliament.

There has been a refurbishment done and certain parts of the hotel have been refurbished. Modern, luxurious and minimal decor.

Amsterdam Part 3: Things to do in Amsterdam and most of them are for FREE!!

Things to do in Amsterdam and most of them are for FREE!! As a "professional tourist" (and wife and cook and cleaner) for 8 months in Amsterdam I loved the fact that there are so many things to do in Amsterdam for free. Not the its free but there is a catch kind that I am use to in Africa..genuinely for FREE. NO STRINGS ATTACHED. Finding an amazing crew of friends who are as free as you are is the first step to enjoying all the below activities. But even if you are alone ...GO! I met my fun friends through these activities and we painted Amsterdam red πŸ˜‰ Sign up to the Meetup app. Meetups introduces you for free with people who have the same intrests and hobbies as you have. Get togethers, workshops and events are then sent to you depending on your intrests. There are many people in Amsterdam who are looking for jobs or here because of their partners. I met one of my amazing friends at a meet up of ladies in the park. It is daunting to put yourself out there on your o

Day Trips from Amsterdam

Day Trips from Amsterdam Round up the girls and head for the road. Amsterdam has an efficient transport network that allows day trips to be affordable, safe, easily accessible and loads of fun! Stores such as Albert Hein, Kruidvat, Hema and Blocker all run at regular intervals train day trip specials. Train journeys to anywhere in the Netherlands go from €13 for a return journey including a cup of coffee at the store. Each special differs so watch out for fine print such as weekends only or  monday to friday  during off peak hours. Specials are found on each companies website or app. Another way to get cheap transport is to regularly check the NS and NS International website and facebook page for their monthly specials. Specials to Belgium (€19 for one way) or France Lille (€22 one way on the thalys was a steal). KEUKENHOF GARDENS Everyone who know me knows that tulips are my favourite flowers. So visiting Keukenhof gardens has always been on my bucket list. Keukenhof

Amsterdam part 2 Halal food and majestic mosques

Halal food and majestic mosques. Food: When in Amsterdam forget Mcdonalds and Burger king and instead try out the vast range of Dutch food available. From Kibbeling (cubes of hot steaming battered fish which will have your tastebuds singing on a cold winters day) and delicious crispy Frites (legendary french fries smothered with creamy mayonnaise or ketchup served in a cone) which is sure to never let you look at the humble french fry the same way again. Both of these can be found in every corner in central Amsterdam. Halal food options: πŸ”πŸŒπŸŸ Artisani  was our favourite go to spot for delicious thick patty burgers, the perfect seasoned frites and huge scrumptious hotdogs and tart freshly made strawberry lemonade. Similar in concept and taste to Shake shack. Artisani is located on Kinkerstraat (near to Action/Mcdonalds) πŸ₯πŸ³ Simit sarayi   also on Kinkerstraat has large range of Turkish light food options and is a delectable halal breakfast option. πŸ₯˜ Piri Reis  grand cafΓ¨ is an a
